Tamil Nadu is seeing increased rainfall as the southwest monsoon intensifies, with precipitation reported to be above the seasonal average.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain warning for 11 districts in the state.

According to the update, an atmospheric low-pressure trough is in place from the central Bay of Bengal towards coastal Karnataka, passing through coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.

Weather conditions linked to this system are expected to support enhanced rainfall activity across parts of Tamil Nadu.
