New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received congratulatory messages from several world leaders after he set a record as India’s longest-serving prime minister.

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni congratulated Modi on the milestone, recalling their recent meeting in Rome and expressing satisfaction over initiatives launched for the benefit of people in both countries.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said Modi has become the longest-serving democratically elected prime minister in India’s history. He noted Sri Lanka values the close friendship and said he is keen to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said India has been at the forefront of voicing positions on global issues under Modi’s leadership, and highlighted that he has led the country of 1.4 billion people across three terms.

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape also released a video message, calling Modi a role model and an example of strong leadership.
