Police department sources say an intelligence-wing report prepared by a special team to monitor ministers and senior officials is supposed to reach Chief Minister Vijay first, through the Intelligence IG.
However, officials are said to be shocked that the Chief Minister’s personal strategist, John Arokiyasamy, is viewing the report before it is placed on the CM’s table. Sources claim he visits the Secretariat frequently, seeks clarifications directly from senior intelligence officers, and has been instructed to review the report ahead of the CM.
The same sources also allege that a senior minister and a top official from the CM’s security wing have asked for the report to be sent via WhatsApp.
As per procedure, the report should be seen only by the Chief Minister or an officially appointed aide. Sources note that no such aide has been appointed so far, and warn that multiple people accessing the report before the CM could increase the risk of confidential information leaking.
