Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, who is in New Delhi to attend the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday as a courtesy call.
After arriving in the capital for a three-day visit, Vijay went to Tamil Nadu House from the airport, where he was received by senior officials including Chief Secretary Sai Kumar. He was also accorded a police guard of honour.
Following a brief rest, the Chief Minister left for Rashtrapati Bhavan and met the President around 4.30 pm, presenting a bouquet and holding a short discussion. He later met the Vice President at about 5.45 pm, where both exchanged bouquets and spoke briefly.
Vijay then visited Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her Janpath residence, where Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was also present. The leaders exchanged greetings, with Vijay thanking the Congress for backing the government formation in Tamil Nadu, and Congress leaders acknowledging the coalition’s share in the state Cabinet and a Rajya Sabha seat.
Later, accepting an invitation from CPI leader D. Raja, Vijay visited the party office at Ajoy Bhavan on Indrajit Gupta Marg, where Raja received him at the entrance. After a short interaction, the Chief Minister returned to Tamil Nadu House.
