The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a 15-minute extension for the NEET-UG examination scheduled on June 21. The move comes ahead of the re-exam being conducted after the earlier test was cancelled.
According to the NTA, the exam will now be held from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. The agency said the decision was taken after students felt that administrative procedures could affect their writing time.
The previous NEET exam held last month was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak, which caused shock among around 22 lakh candidates. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the case, and key accused have been remanded to jail.
As part of precautionary steps to ensure a smooth conduct of the re-exam, those involved in question paper preparation have been housed in a secure, confidential location, the report said. The NTA also stated that space for rough work in the question booklet has been increased.
