Washington: US President Donald Trump has said the United States will seize Iran’s crude oil and natural gas resources, drawing a comparison to what he claimed was done in Venezuela.

His remarks come amid reports that hostilities between the US and Iran have resumed. Trump has repeatedly warned of a tougher military response against Iran.

In a post on social media, Trump said Iran had lost naval, air force and radar capabilities, and that the US would carry out severe attacks.

He also claimed that the day was not far off when Kharg Island and Iran’s oil infrastructure would be taken over, adding that the US would seize Iran’s crude oil and gas market in a similar manner to Venezuela.
