Tamil Nadu’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) said it arrested seven government officials over four days, from June 9 to June 12, for allegedly accepting bribes.
In a statement, the agency said a junior engineer at the Tiruppur Corporation, Subramaniyan, was arrested on June 9 for allegedly taking Rs 5 lakh.
The DVAC also reported arrests of village administrative officers (VAOs): Saravanan at Keel Tiruchendur on June 9 for Rs 10,000, and Karthik at Theni on June 10 for Rs 5,000.
On June 11, an accountant named Soundar in Tiruvallur was arrested for allegedly taking Rs 10,750 related to paddy procurement. The same day in Dindigul, surveyors Mohamed Ibrahim and Meenambika were arrested for allegedly taking Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
On June 12, the DVAC said a motor vehicle inspector, Shanmuga Anand, was arrested in Dindigul for allegedly taking Rs 5,800, the statement added.
