Facebook and Instagram services under Meta faced disruptions on Thursday evening, affecting users in India and several other countries.

Users reported that the apps logged them out automatically and would not allow them to sign back in. Some also said the websites showed blank pages when they tried to access them.

As the outage spread, affected users took to other social media platforms to report the problem. Around 7:45 pm, about 7,500 complaints related to Instagram were reported, with the number continuing to rise.

A Meta spokesperson said the company is aware that users are facing trouble accessing its services and that work is underway to fix the issue. The company did not specify the cause.

Users said the disruption was noticed not only in India but also in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the Philippines.
