Former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that whenever the next election is held, people themselves will remove the present regime. He made the remarks while addressing a DMK women’s wing consultative meeting in Chennai.
Stalin urged party cadres to work faster and more actively if the DMK is to return to power. He said his earlier comments were being portrayed by opponents as an attempt to topple the government, calling such allegations false.
He said the DMK would continue to highlight what he described as the government’s failures, alleging an increase in crime incidents. He also cited frequent power cuts affecting Chennai and other places, and referred to what he called a “drama” over farm loan waiver promises.
Stalin further alleged that Chief Minister Vijay was “shopping” for AIADMK MLAs, and questioned whether this reflected a lack of confidence in his own government or in supporting parties. He claimed the move resembled tactics used by the BJP in other states and accused Vijay of acting like a “xerox” of the BJP.
He also said that during campaigning the government spoke of providing security, but that people were now seeking protection from the ruling dispensation. Stalin added that whoever holds power would ultimately have to function within what he called a “Dravidian model” blueprint.
