Chennai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has issued a sharp rebuttal to opposition leader Udhayanidhi, accusing him of spreading misinformation and distorting statements related to the NEET exam.
In a statement, TVK’s IT wing alleged that Udhayanidhi had earlier made “false promises” about knowing a secret to abolish NEET and is now making more claims that mislead the public. The party said only the Union government has the authority to remove NEET, and that a state government cannot do so.
TVK also defended actor Vijay’s remark that “NEET is not the only world,” saying it was meant to prevent students from falling into mental distress by relying solely on the hope of NEET being scrapped. The statement accused Udhayanidhi of twisting the comment to build a narrative.
The party further criticised the ruling side for allegedly rebranding earlier schemes and warned Udhayanidhi against making claims “for his father.” It added that if such statements continue, people would distance themselves further, the statement said.
