Coimbatore: Minister Sengottaiyan on Friday said THAVEKA is not in a position to “catch” or poach people from other parties, while alleging that the DMK has projected the joining of a single person as a major achievement.

He said people are instead approaching the THAVEKA leader on their own, adding that individuals moving across organisations is not new. Citing earlier instances during DMK rule, he referred to leaders such as Kambam Ramakrishnan and Anita Radhakrishnan joining after resignations and later contesting elections.

Sengottaiyan also questioned who had believed that the DMK and AIADMK could form an alliance to capture power even before the full election results were declared, and asked those concerned to respond.

He further alleged that an attempt to bring the AIADMK and DMK together to form a government was being plotted for the first time in Tamil Nadu. He also asked how DMK leader M.K. Stalin could know what the Chief Minister spoke to the Prime Minister in Delhi.

Raising an economic issue, he questioned why Tamil Nadu was unable to secure subsidies for solar power manufacturing comparable to neighbouring states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, which he claimed receive Rs 1 crore per megawatt, and asked Stalin to explain the reason.
