DMK president M.K. Stalin on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Vijay at a DMK women’s wing and women volunteers’ administrators’ meeting held at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.
Stalin said the party cadre must work with renewed energy to return to power, and alleged that his earlier remarks were being twisted by opponents as a “conspiracy to topple the government”. While time could be given to fulfil election promises, he said it was impossible to stay silent on public safety.
Pointing to what he called the government’s failures, Stalin cited daily crime incidents and power cuts, claiming people were regretting their electoral choice. He also alleged that in many crimes against women, functionaries of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) were involved, and said women needed protection “first from TVK”.
Stalin further accused the Chief Minister of “shopping” for AIADMK MLAs, comparing it to practices he said the BJP follows in other states. He also alleged that Vijay’s speech at the NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi echoed DMK government demands, achievements and policy notes, with only minor changes.
Separately, the report said DMK general secretary Duraimurugan arrived to attend the event but left soon after, as no party functionary came forward to receive him. While leaving, he reportedly told supporters that the crowd was large and he could risk infection.
