Minister Adhav on Saturday alleged that DMK leader M.K. Stalin is attempting to topple the TVK government “by any means”. He made the remarks while addressing a party-joining programme in Madurantakam, Chengalpattu district.

The event was held as Maragatham Kumaravel, who resigned as an AIADMK MLA, joined TVK along with several supporters. Ministers Sengottaiyan and Adhav were among those who took part.

In his speech, Adhav said AIADMK as a party had not “sunk”, but claimed its general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami was “sinking”. He also asserted that AIADMK and TVK were not different parties, calling them “one and the same”.

Responding to Stalin’s reported remark that TVK came to power through “reels” and Instagram, Adhav alleged that large sums were spent on social media during the election. He said steps would be taken to release a white paper on how much government money was spent for such activities through the Information Department.

Adhav further accused Palaniswami of having a history of winning through “conspiracy” and “buying” candidates, and claimed that both DMK and Palaniswami’s camp shared the objective of removing the TVK government.
