Chief Minister Vijay on Monday honoured Meenatchi Sundaram, a Tamil Nadu soldier who received the Kirti Chakra, at the Secretariat in Chennai.

Meenatchi Sundaram, a native of Kamayagoundanpatti in Theni district, serves as a Lance Naik in the Indian Army. He was recognised for his performance in anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, which brought credit to the nation and his unit.

The Kirti Chakra was awarded by the Union government, and President Droupadi Murmu presented the honour.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister felicitated the soldier and his family and handed over a cheque for Rs 48 lakh on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government. He also interacted with the family, enquired about their well-being, and was seen affectionately holding the soldier’s child.
