Congress has begun an internal review after its poor performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election, where it contested 28 constituencies as part of the DMK-led alliance and won only five seats.

To assess what went wrong, the party’s central leadership in Delhi has constituted a fact-finding committee to examine the reasons behind the losses.

The committee is reported to include former MP Jayakumar along with state-level office-bearers.

The findings of the panel are expected to be used for an internal assessment of the party’s campaign and organisational performance in the state.
