Tehran: More than 500 Indian sailors have reportedly been stranded in the Strait of Hormuz region for over 100 days, as tensions linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict continue to disrupt shipping.

According to the report, a total of 562 Indian crew members are stuck at sea for more than 107 days on 13 Indian-flagged commercial vessels operating around the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.

The conflict involving Iran and the US-Israel alliance has crossed 100 days, and the wider Gulf region is said to be facing severe operational uncertainty. Estimates suggest between 18,000 and 23,000 Indian sailors across the Gulf may be affected by the tense situation.

With repeated attacks reported over recent months, sailors are said to be facing acute shortages of essential food supplies and drinking water.

In several ships, communication equipment has reportedly failed, leaving crew members unable to contact their families in India.
