Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on an official visit to Slovakia, received an enthusiastic welcome in Bratislava with dance and music. Members of the Indian-origin community living there also joined the reception.

Modi shared a video on social media from the event, where the Lucnica Ensemble performed the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’. In his post, he noted that the performance came as the song marks its 150th anniversary.

He also recalled the song’s significant role in India’s history and the freedom movement.

According to the report, this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993. Modi is scheduled to meet Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico for bilateral discussions and later hold talks with President Pellegrini.
