A section of students at Stanford University walked out during the commencement ceremony as Google CEO Sundar Pichai delivered the keynote address. The protest was linked to opposition against Google’s agreements with security-related agencies.

According to the report, Google has entered into contracts with Israel’s Defence Ministry as well as the US Department of Homeland Security and immigration-related departments. The deals have become a subject of public debate, drawing criticism from some quarters.

During the graduation event, Pichai attended as the chief guest and began his speech, but a group of students left the venue in protest. The walkout was attributed to participants associated with organisations such as “Justice for Palestine” and similar groups.

After the disruption, Pichai reportedly avoided focusing on technology and artificial intelligence, and instead offered general advice to students. He spoke about mindset and how to face changing situations in life.
