Police in Thoothukudi have arrested a Christian preacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following allegations of sexual harassment of a minor.
The accused, identified as Arulraj (69), was serving as a preacher at a CSI church located in Anand Nagar under Thalamuthu Nagar in Thoothukudi district.
According to the complaint, a 12-year-old girl who visited the church was subjected to repeated sexual misconduct by the preacher over the past few days. The child later informed her parents.
Based on the parents’ complaint, Thoothukudi police registered a case under POCSO and arrested the accused. Further action is expected as the investigation proceeds.
