Tamil Nadu has been set as the BJP’s next major political target, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told party leaders after a recent state core committee meeting held in Delhi.

Following the meeting, Shah held a separate discussion with a few key Tamil Nadu BJP functionaries. He said the party should intensify its organisational work and maintain continuous consultation meetings at the state level by engaging district-level office-bearers.

Shah urged leaders to tour districts, meet cadres and expand the party’s presence on the ground. He said the BJP should aim to win 20 constituencies in Tamil Nadu in the 2029 Lok Sabha election and begin preparations immediately.

He also indicated that Union ministers would be sent to Tamil Nadu regularly. Their role, he said, would be to take Central government schemes to the people and to keep highlighting what he described as the shortcomings of the TVK government.
