DRDO on June 15 successfully carried out a flight test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM), a system designed to strike land-based targets at long distances.

The test was conducted from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. According to DRDO, the missile accurately hit the intended target and demonstrated performance from launch through the terminal phase.

DRDO said the missile has been designed and integrated with extensive participation from Indian industry. It was developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative with contributions from both public and private sectors.

The agency added that integration with domestic manufacturers and systems is expected to help reduce costs. The successful trial was described as a key milestone in India’s long-range precision strike capability.
