DMK’s official daily Murasoli has again trained its fire on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, alleging that actions taken by the party while remaining in alliance with the DMK amounted to “betrayals” carried out with Rahul’s backing.

The paper noted that Rahul Gandhi had publicly shared on June 11 what he spoke at the June 8 meeting of the INDIA alliance. It also claimed that parties attending the meeting had raised allegations against the Congress.

In its latest article, Murasoli further alleged that Rahul Gandhi was responsible for weakening INDIA alliance unity in various states, and repeated its charge that Congress’ moves against the DMK, despite being allies, were done with his “blessings.”

Responding, Tamil Nadu Congress vice-president Vijayan said the continued “vulgar” and “demeaning” writing about Rahul reflected the DMK’s arrogance. He also said that giving a ministerial post to a party with only two MLAs showed the Chief Minister Vijay’s magnanimity, and claimed this was why parties that were with the DMK had aligned with the TVK.
