Chennai: A video showing Chief Minister Vijay driving a car in Karnataka has triggered a controversy, prompting members of his party to remove the clip from social media.

Vijay had visited the Mookambika temple in Kollur last week. While returning from the temple, he reportedly drove the car himself, and a person seated inside recorded the moment.

The video was circulated online with captions praising his driving style. However, attention shifted to a plastic cup seen near the seat and to the allegation that Vijay was not wearing a seat belt while driving.

Following the backlash, a verbal instruction was reportedly issued within the party asking members not to use or share the video. Many who had posted it have since deleted it from their accounts.

Opposition leaders have also alleged that takedowns are being pursued by claiming copyright through a private advertising firm, and questioned who filmed the clip, who released it, and why it is being removed so aggressively.
