New Delhi: The BJP on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his comments on a temporary restriction on the Telegram app during the NEET examination period.

In a social media post, Gandhi questioned the logic of blocking Telegram to prevent question paper leaks, comparing it to locking the victim’s house instead of catching the thief. He said many students rely on Telegram for study materials, mock tests and discussions, and argued that taking away the platform would not solve the leak problem.

Gandhi also claimed the move was not a complete solution and asked what could be banned next, including WhatsApp. He alleged that while students face strict checks and authorities stage elaborate measures on exam day, the “root” of the issue is not addressed.

Responding, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said Gandhi’s remarks exposed what he described as an “evil” and “highly disgusting” mindset. Trivedi further alleged that Gandhi was trying to use a sensitive situation and students’ emotions for political gain.
