Former Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal has resigned from his post as chairman of the Fire Commission in Chennai.
The resignation comes amid a wider trend in Tamil Nadu, where several retired officials appointed during the previous administration have been stepping down after the new TVK-led government took charge.
Jiwal, who served as DGP during the DMK government, was appointed as the Fire Commission’s chairman shortly before his retirement, when the commission was created and members were also named.
According to the report, the commission’s members had already resigned earlier, and Jiwal submitted his resignation on Tuesday.
