Statement from Cuddalore

VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan on Tuesday said that a government cannot be formed in Tamil Nadu without the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). He made the remarks while speaking at an event in Cuddalore.

On the current political climate

Thirumavalavan said the present political situation was not an unexpected outcome, though he did not anticipate such a major turnaround. He noted that political conditions and alliance equations can change, and that this was a key factor behind his decision to be in the Legislative Assembly.

Why he chose to contest

Referring to the Katumannarkoil constituency, he said he had thought through and decided even before the election that he should contest and remain actively involved in Tamil Nadu politics. He added that the reasons for that decision would now be clearer to the public.

VCK as an unavoidable force

Reiterating that VCK would be an “unavoidable force” in the state, he recalled having said earlier that the party would be a decisive factor in determining power. He stressed that his statement about VCK’s role was based on field experience, and not made out of arrogance.
