New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned that the ongoing crisis in West Asia could continue to affect developing countries for a significant period, citing disruptions in fuel, fertiliser and global supply chains.

In a social media post after participating in the G7 summit in France, Modi said he spoke at a session focused on restoring equitable, shared and sustainable economic growth. He welcomed the priority given to the theme by France, which is chairing the G7.

Modi argued that growth should not be judged only by GDP or trade figures, but by who benefits, who is included and the direction of development. He said India’s experience shows that shared growth is key to turning goals into reality, rooted in inclusion and democratic empowerment.

Referring to the West Asia situation, he said international solidarity must ensure that the most vulnerable countries are not left to bear the burden alone. He also suggested exploring connectivity initiatives in Africa, Latin America and Pacific island nations, and proposed combining G7 capital with India’s capabilities and developing countries’ ownership.

Modi further noted that while many nations are becoming ageing societies, India and other developing countries have a large pool of young talent, entrepreneurs and skills. He called for creating a global skills partnership to harness this potential through joint efforts.
