India registered a commanding 170-run victory over Afghanistan in the second ODI at the Vajpayee Stadium in Lucknow, sealing the three-match series. Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bowl first.

India’s start was shaky as Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 4. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill steadied the innings before Rohit was bowled by Rashid Khan for 48.

Gill then took charge alongside Ishan Kishan, with both batters scoring centuries. Gill brought up his hundred off 77 balls and went on to make 154, while Kishan struck 125 off 71 deliveries. India were eventually all out for 402 in 49.5 overs, with Nangeyalia Karode taking four wickets and Rashid Khan picking up three.

Chasing 403, Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals despite contributions from Gurbaz (41), Zadran (21) and Sediq (42). Rahmat Shah top-scored with 79, but the visitors were bowled out for 232 in 44.3 overs. For India, Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar claimed three wickets each, while Prince Yadav took two.

The match also saw milestones: Rohit Sharma crossed 14,000 List A runs, becoming the fifth Indian to do so. Kishan achieved a landmark of 1,000 runs in fewer innings, and captain Gill entered the list of players with 7,000 ODI runs.
