Portugal and Congo played out a 1-1 draw in a Group K league match of the FIFA World Cup in Houston, USA.
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo featured in his sixth consecutive World Cup (2006–2026), becoming only the second player to achieve the feat.
Portugal struck early when Pedro Neto’s delivery was headed in by Joao Neves in the 6th minute. Congo responded in first-half stoppage time (45+2) as Masuaku’s corner was converted by Wissa with a header—Congo’s first goal in World Cup history.
In the second half, Joao Cancelo found the net in the 55th minute, but the effort was ruled offside. With no further goals, the match ended level, giving both teams one point—Congo’s first-ever World Cup point.
