New Delhi: Six BJP members of the Rajya Sabha have submitted a privilege notice against Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that his remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi were derogatory.
The MPs said Kharge’s comments lowered the dignity of the House and its members. The notice was moved by BJP Rajya Sabha MPs Brij Lal, Mithlesh Kumar, Sumitra Balmik, Shivesh Kumar, Sikander Kumar and Nagendra Reddy.
Filed under Rajya Sabha Rule 188, the notice has been forwarded by the Chair, C.P. Radhakrishnan, to the Privileges Committee for examination.
According to a statement issued by Rajya Sabha Secretary P.C. Modi, the committee—headed by Deputy Chairman Harivansh—will review whether Kharge’s remarks violated parliamentary rules and submit its report.
