Police in Ranchi, Jharkhand, are probing an attack in which unidentified persons hurled petrol bombs at an RSS office in the Nivaranpur area on Wednesday morning. A special team has been formed to investigate the incident.

Two suspects were arrested on Wednesday night, and another person was taken into custody on Thursday, Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said. The three were questioned at the Kotwali police station.

During interrogation, one accused, identified as Saeeb, allegedly asked to use the toilet and escaped by breaking a window. CCTV footage later showed him fleeing by bus, following which police tracked and detained him near the Sanho toll plaza.

Police said Saeeb tried to snatch an officer’s firearm and fired three rounds at the police team. In the retaliatory action, he sustained a leg injury. Investigators suspect the arrested men may have links to a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation, the SP added.
