US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi for talks focused on strengthening cooperation between India and the United States in the security domain.

The meeting comes amid heightened attention to India-US security ties, following remarks made by US President Donald Trump during his interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit held in France.

According to the report, the two sides held detailed discussions on jointly confronting and curbing terrorism. They also agreed to intensify coordinated action against drug smuggling and illegal narcotics networks.

The talks further covered improving cooperation to secure both countries’ borders and to ensure offenders are brought before the law. Both sides expressed interest in taking the comprehensive global strategic partnership forward under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
