Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has criticised US President Donald Trump, saying he used every form of pressure to reach a ceasefire agreement.

According to the report, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a February 28 attack carried out jointly by US and Israeli forces. Mojtaba Khamenei later assumed the role of Supreme Leader.

The new leader has not appeared in public so far. The peace agreement with the United States was signed electronically from Tehran by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

In a statement read on Iranian state television, Mojtaba Khamenei said Trump, driven by desperation to conclude the deal, applied “all kinds of authority-based pressure.” He added that he held differing views about the agreement.

However, he said he approved the deal based on President Pezeshkian’s firm assurances that Iran’s interests and rights would be protected.
