A police team from Karur visited the Chennai residence of former minister V. Senthil Balaji on Friday (June 20), but left after finding no one at home, according to reports.
Senthil Balaji is facing a pending case alleging bribes were taken for recruitment in a state transport corporation. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing and the Enforcement Directorate are conducting inquiries linked to the allegations.
He also faces allegations related to procurement of transformers for the electricity board. His brother Ashok has also been named in the corruption case, and both are currently out on bail.
Police have not disclosed which case the visit was connected to. Reports said the police may be looking for Ashok.
The report noted that during the DMK government, police showed limited interest in pursuing these cases beyond court-directed steps. With the government now changed, the investigations are expected to gather pace.
