New Delhi: After wresting Delhi from the Aam Aadmi Party and forming a government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the BJP is being projected as riding a fresh wave of victories in multiple states. The report credits Union Home Minister Amit Shah with turning key political battles into wins for the party.

According to the report, Shah’s next focus is Punjab, where AAP’s Bhagwant Mann is the Chief Minister. Opposition parties have repeatedly alleged that Mann is a habitual drinker and have accused him of attending the Assembly after consuming alcohol.

Punjab is expected to go to Assembly polls in February or March 2027. In the 2022 election, the BJP—then in an alliance with the Punjab Lok Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal—failed to secure victory.

This time, the BJP is said to have decided to contest all 117 constituencies on its own. The report claims Shah plans to project Punjab-born Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu as the party’s chief ministerial candidate.

Bittu, currently a Rajya Sabha MP, is nearing the end of his term this month, and the report says he is not being re-nominated as he may be announced as the CM face. It also notes his political lineage, including his grandfather Beant Singh, a Congress leader and former Punjab Chief Minister who was assassinated by Khalistan militants in 1995, while adding that Shah’s “magic” did not work in Tamil Nadu.
