Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is currently governed by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)–Jana Sena alliance, with N. Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister and actor-politician Pawan Kalyan serving as Deputy Chief Minister.

According to reports, Pawan Kalyan has been impressed by the political rise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, who is said to have moved from cinema to the top post in a single election.

Jana Sena contested 21 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and won all of them, and the party has three ministers in the state cabinet. However, Pawan Kalyan is reportedly unhappy that the TDP is not treating him and his ministers appropriately, and he has been staying away from cabinet meetings.

The reports also claim he believes the TDP is trying to weaken Jana Sena. With Naidu and his son, minister Nara Lokesh, frequently visiting Delhi to meet BJP leaders, Pawan Kalyan is said to be planning similar trips with his party leaders to meet the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.

While the TDP has two Union ministers, Pawan Kalyan is reportedly seeking a Union minister berth for Jana Sena in the next cabinet reshuffle. Jana Sena currently has two MPs, and Vijay’s political ascent is said to be creating ripples in the neighbouring state.
