Minister Jagatheeswari on Sunday said she is facing indirect threats from unidentified callers, responding to reporters’ questions on whether the intimidation was from individuals, her party, or the opposition.
She alleged that callers circulate false information by claiming there are problems in her constituency and specific wards, and even speak using fake names. When checked, she said, the claims have no basis.
The minister said her personal assistant receives threatening calls as frequently as every 10 minutes, with callers insisting their “information” should be heard. She described the pattern as harassment, including prank calls such as asking for the location of a puncture shop and then laughing.
Calling it an opposition conspiracy aimed at tarnishing her constituency’s image, she said the attempts are meant to obstruct her from serving people. She added that she would not be discouraged and wanted the public to know the extent of the disturbance.
Jagatheeswari said she has not submitted any complaint petition over the issue, adding that she views the harassment as something that would only strengthen her resolve rather than as a setback.
