Minister Keerthana on Sunday alleged that Tamil Nadu lost major investments during the previous DMK regime because industrialists were asked to pay bribes to move projects forward.

Speaking at an event in Virudhunagar, she claimed that commissions of 23% to 24% were demanded and that work would proceed only after such payments. She said her side had introduced a “zero corruption model” and questioned critics who, she said, were now raising allegations.

The minister further alleged that, over the last five years, 25 companies that intended to start operations in Tamil Nadu shifted to other states due to commission demands. According to her, this resulted in the loss of investments worth Rs 3.3 lakh crore.

She also claimed that the state lost employment opportunities for around two lakh people because of the alleged corruption, and asked who would be accountable for the setback.
