Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Sunday claimed that terrorism has been “completely stopped” during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12-year tenure. He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the BJP’s state headquarters, Kamalalayam, in Chennai.
Reddy said India has emerged as a fast-growing country under the Modi government. He contrasted the present system with earlier periods, alleging that welfare funds often failed to reach the poor, and said the linking of Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar and mobile numbers has removed middlemen.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, he said the removal of Article 370 ended a long-standing barrier and strengthened the region’s integration with India. He added that places that earlier saw stone-pelting and incidents such as the national flag being burnt are now witnessing schools and temples functioning peacefully and elections being conducted.
He also said Naxalite violence that targeted officials and political leaders during previous Congress rule has been brought under control. On national security, he cited “surgical strikes” as having taught Pakistan a lesson, and said Modi has maintained a stance focused on the safety of Indian citizens amid global conflicts.
Reddy said the Prime Minister’s goal is to make India one of the world’s leading powers by 2047, when the country marks 100 years of Independence.
