Devotees in Madurai have appealed for immediate steps to repair a damaged gopuram at Mariamman Teppakulam, calling for intervention from Chief Minister Vijay.
Mariamman Teppakulam, a historic temple tank complex, was built in the 16th century during the period of Tirumala Nayak. The site is associated with the Meenakshi Amman Temple.
According to the report, worshippers said the damage needs prompt attention and urged the authorities to take up restoration work to protect the structure.
The issue was highlighted in a Dinamalar TV video report dated June 22, 2026.
