Spain began their Group H league campaign in the World Cup football tournament with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in Atlanta, USA.

The scoring started early when 18-year-old Lamine Yamal struck in the 10th minute, marking his first goal in World Cup history. Spain then tightened their grip as Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice in quick succession in the 21st and 24th minutes, sending Spain into half-time with a 3-0 lead.

Saudi Arabia’s troubles deepened soon after the restart, as Hassan Al-Tambakti put the ball into his own net in the 49th minute, extending Spain’s advantage to four.

In stoppage time, Spain thought they had added another through Fernando Torres (90+2), but the goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR check. Spain ultimately sealed their first win of the campaign with a 4-0 scoreline.
