TIRUNELVELI: The organisation ‘We The Leaders’ is taking steps to register itself as a political party and is preparing to enter electoral politics, its coordinator Prabhakaran said on Sunday.

Speaking in Tirunelveli, he said the group plans to contest future local body elections, Lok Sabha polls and Assembly elections. He added that decisions on alliances would be taken based on the political situation at the time.

Prabhakaran also announced a public meeting against drug culture to be held in Tiruchendur on July 19, in which Annamalai is expected to participate.

He maintained that the organisation is not a proxy for any political party and said it works with the objective of foregrounding Tamils and giving importance to the Tamil language. While welcoming some initiatives of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government—such as appointing young ministers—he said he did not see a major difference between TVK and Dravidian parties.

He said the immediate focus remains on strengthening the organisation, and expressed confidence that ‘We The Leaders’ would emerge as a force for change in Tamil Nadu politics.
