The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out searches at 18 locations across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli, officials said.
The action is linked to allegations of irregularities in the 2017 recruitment process for lecturer posts in government polytechnic colleges. The Central Crime Branch has registered a case against 156 people in connection with the complaint.
Based on the predicate case, the ED has also registered a money-laundering case, alleging illegal financial transactions related to the recruitment.
Sources said the searches are being conducted at the residences of retired education department officials and at certain establishments in the state. Further details are awaited as the operation continues.
