Hindu Munnani has called on the Tamil Nadu government to give a clear assurance in court that it will implement the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court’s order related to lighting the lamp at Thiruparankundram.
State president Kadeswara Subramaniam said the government, in its response petition, had made what he described as confusing remarks while dealing with the High Court directive. He noted that the government had indicated it was weighing “a hundred-year practice or the court verdict” and had also stated it would move an appeal in the Supreme Court.
He further alleged that the government’s stance was influenced by its dependence on DMK alliance parties, and claimed this was leading to what he termed anti-Hindu actions. He said people had elected the current leadership after being dissatisfied with the previous DMK government’s approach.
Kadeswara Subramaniam urged the government to revise its position and provide an unambiguous commitment before the court to proceed in line with the High Court’s ruling on lighting the lamp.
