Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Tuesday claimed that the DMK staged a walkout from the Tamil Nadu Assembly after Chief Minister Vijay responded to questions raised by the opposition.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Sengottaiyan said the DMK had questioned why the Chief Minister was not speaking, but “once he started speaking” the party “could not handle it” and left the House.
He also rejected allegations of party funding in connection with licences issued to private schools during his tenure as School Education Minister. If there was any such instance, he said, it should be proven.
Referring to the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for schools, Sengottaiyan said arrangements were made through camps and that he personally visited nine locations while facilitating NOCs for 219 schools. He added that the department had achieved milestones and urged that stakeholders be asked whether NOCs were provided free of cost twice for all.
