India has reiterated its commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Monday.

His remarks came on the 41st anniversary of the bombing of Air India’s Kanishka flight, which had departed from Toronto for Mumbai on June 23, 1985. The aircraft exploded mid-air while passing through Irish airspace en route to London.

A total of 329 people were killed in the attack, including 22 crew members and 307 passengers. The incident is widely attributed to Sikh extremists seeking a separate Khalistan state.

In a statement marking the day, Jaishankar said India honours the memory of those who lost their lives in the “horrific” act of terrorism and reaffirmed the country’s resolve to fight terrorism in every form.
