A fire broke out in a three-storey commercial complex in Aliganj, Lucknow, killing 15 people. Most of the victims were students who had come for training at an animation centre operating in the building.
Police said four people, including the building owner, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Among those affected were Nilesh and Anamika, a couple who worked at the animation centre. With both families having agreed to their marriage, preparations were under way.
Nilesh’s family had even booked train tickets to visit Anamika’s home in West Bengal next week for formal marriage talks. Relatives who were discussing travel plans and a wedding date just hours earlier were later forced to run between hospitals and the post-mortem centre.
Anamika died in the fire, along with her relative Soumilya (27), according to reports.
