Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India’s objective is to contribute to global security and support the priorities of developing countries.
His remarks came after he met national security advisers and senior security officials from BRICS member nations in New Delhi. India is chairing the BRICS grouping this year, which includes 11 countries such as China and Russia.
The BRICS National Security Advisers’ meeting was held in the capital on June 22 and 23. Modi said BRICS has emerged as an important platform to strengthen cooperation amid a changing economic environment.
In a post about the interaction, the Prime Minister noted that terrorism and cyber security challenges are evolving. He said BRICS plays a key role in addressing technological challenges and in reinforcing cooperation on security.
Modi added that India will continue efforts aimed at supporting developing nations’ priorities and contributing to a safer world.
