Portugal produced a dominant display to defeat Uzbekistan 5-0 in a World Cup Group K league match held in Houston, USA. Cristiano Ronaldo led the rout with two goals.

Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 6th minute, finishing a pass from Joao Cancelo. Portugal doubled the lead soon after when Nuno Mendes struck in the 11th minute.

Uzbekistan thought they had pulled one back in the 30th minute through Kaniyev, but the effort was ruled offside. Ronaldo then added his second, converting with an assist from Bruno Fernandes.

Ronaldo came close to completing a hat-trick in the 58th minute, but goalkeeper Nematov saved his attempt. Portugal extended the margin in the 60th minute when a Bruno Fernandes corner deflected off Nematov into the net for an own goal, before Rafael Leao scored in the 87th minute to seal the 5-0 win.

The match also marked a milestone for Ronaldo, who made his World Cup debut in 2006. He became the first player to score in six consecutive World Cup tournaments.
