Washington: President Donald Trump has said the United States will never become a communist country.
The remark came after the first round of elections for the US Parliament, in which candidates backed by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani of the Democratic Party secured victories.
Trump has long been critical of Mamdani, and has repeatedly attacked his political approach since Mamdani entered the New York mayoral race.
Following the results, Trump issued a post on social media. Unlike his usual lengthy messages, this time he wrote a single line: “America will never become a communist country.”
